NumNum is an iPhone app and website published by MTR Technologies GmbH, Dufourstrasse 188, 8008 Zürich, Switzerland. This page explains what data the app and this website handle, and why. The short version: no account, no tracking, no advertising, and your location stays on your phone.
No account, no personal profile
NumNum works without signing up. We don’t ask for your name, email address or phone number, and we don’t build a profile of you.
Your location
If you allow it, the app uses your location to centre the map on you and to sort restaurants by distance. This happens on your phone: your location is never sent to us or stored by us. You can turn location access off at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → NumNum. The app works without it.
What the app loads from the internet
- Restaurant data (names, locations, menus, ratings and opening hours) comes from our backend, hosted by Convex. When you open a restaurant, the app requests that restaurant’s details by its ID. These requests contain no personal information, but like any internet request they reveal your device’s IP address to the hosting provider, which processes it only to deliver the data.
- Map tiles come from OpenFreeMap, which serves map images based on OpenStreetMap data. OpenFreeMap receives the requested map area and your IP address in order to deliver the tiles.
- Links you tap, such as a restaurant’s website or booking page, open in your browser and are governed by that site’s own privacy policy.
On your phone only
The app keeps a few settings on your device, such as whether you’ve seen the introduction and your recent searches. They never leave your phone and are deleted when you delete the app.
No tracking, no analytics, no ads
NumNum contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software, and we don’t sell or share data with anyone.
This website
num-num.app uses no cookies and no analytics. Our hosting provider processes your IP address and standard request information in server logs to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Your rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation, you can ask what data we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Since we don’t keep personal data about app users, there is usually nothing to hand over, but we’re happy to confirm that. Write to info@mtr-technologies.com.
Changes
If a future version of NumNum handles data differently, for example once you can save and share lists, we’ll update this page before that version is released.
